Inspired by English cottages, DC Designer Cameron Ruppert worked to transform this Arts & Crafts home in the Virginia countryside into a country chic farmhouse, complete with a cozy and colorful aesthetic. “She didn’t want it to feel like a brand-new house that she’d gutted, but rather [one that was] layered on top of the original,” Ruppert told Architectural Digest of her client. “I knew from working together before that she loves dimension and tons of patterns and color, but she wants it to last. It had to be timeless.”

The charming house features offerings from both Nicholas Herbert and Décors Barbares, which you can scroll down to see.

In the entryway, Ruppert used Toile des Lapins by Nicholas Herbert — a pattern so classic it looks like it’s been with the home forever. The wallpaper is available in four colorways: Red, Mushroom, Yellow, and Blue.

The fabric on the doorway to the mudroom is Varykino by Décors Barbares. It is printed on 100% linen.

Ruppert translated this uninsulated stone structure into an all-season study for her work-from-home client, who requested recessed lighting, warmth in the winter, and storage for books. The fabric on the wooden chairs is Sarafane by Décors Barbares, available in three colorways: Indigo, Red, and Ink.
