When Jemma and Tristan Phillimore inherited a house on a historic London estate, they were faced with the challenge of updating the interior while staying true to its heritage. Together with the designer Alice Leigh, they have pulled off a charmingly timeless reinvention, as featured in the January 2023 issue of House & Gardens UK. “Turning it into a family house was all about injecting it with our personality, while understanding that we are simply custodians of the beautiful old buildings on what was originally a 90-acre estate,” says Jemma. “It was important not to take the house apart, but to recognise its heritage. I’ve seen many houses on our street transformed into unrecognisable spaces. That was not the direction we wanted to go in.”

Photographed by Rachael Smith, the home features Lewis & Wood prominently — first in the primary bedroom, where Adam’s Eden pairs nicely with soft linen tones, and again in a guest room wallpapered in Coromandel in its malachite colorway.
