Robin’s Egg

We are so thrilled to be able to introduce Robin’s Egg — the latest woven design from the Virginia White Collection. Available in Riley, Basil, Mulberry, and Nutmeg, the design is inspired by British artist Bridget Riley (b.1931), whose iconic geometric patterns have a powerful way of producing movement in color. “The design,” Virginia says, “started with a simple exploration of shape — specifically squares and circles. By arranging them in a grid formation, we wanted to see how the two separate layers interacted when placed on top of one another.”

From there, Virginia and her team printed the overlapping grid design into a velum paper, creating a layered and eye-catching moiré pattern. In order to get some extra detail into the individual overlapping squares and circles, they also added a diagonal twill detail, made in a contrast colored warp yarn.
